No truer statement than that when it comes to insurance. Once upon a time, I too was naive and clueless when it came to my car insurance. I know right? I just paid my premium and never asked or knew what I was being covered for.  It does not have to be that way. A great Agent is always willing to answer all and any questions you may have about your vehicle insurance. I will touch basis on the most common questions asked by our insureds, but I recommend you set an appointment with an Agent. This way you allow yourself time to ask all the important questions and comprehend what is being discussed.  You should never feel rushed by the Agent or insurance company. We want you to fully understand what you are purchasing and exactly what coverage you need for you and your family.

These days, we are all trying to stretch our dollars and insurance is no exception. Companies offer discounts to stay competitive, and that is why you always want to ask:  How can you save me money? Don’t ever be afraid to ask, it’s your dollar, you might as well know where it is going and if it’s worth it. Most companies offer discounts when combining other insurance products, for example, Home insurance, Life insurance. etc.  It makes sense since you need insurance on most of your assets. What better way than to keep them all together and benefit from it at the same time? Score! You get a discount when you pay your premium in full, set up automatic payments, go paperless, safety driver courses. Your profession may also save you on your auto and home insurance, whether you are active or retired Military personnel, Accountants, BPA, Engineers, Teachers, Professors, Police/Fire, etc., ask your Agent or company for a complete list. Is your young driver a good student? Discount! Some companies offer discounts to eco-friendly cars and cars with certain safety features. It is all about asking to find ways to save on insurance.

Another question I hear our insureds ask constantly: Do I really need Comprehensive and Collision coverage? Good question. It all depends on the value of your car versus the premium your willing to ensure your vehicle for and pay out on a deductible if a claim were ever to arise. Knowing the value of your car is always handy. At the NADA website you can find out how much your car is worth. Speaking with your agent can give you a better insight into adding coverage or not.

Another most asked question: Does my insurance cover a car rental? Insurance companies offer Rental Reimbursement and Loss of use coverage. It typically covers a rental car due to a loss covered by the Comprehensive or Collision sections of the policy. Rental Reimbursement may be purchased for any vehicle covered by Comprehensive and Collision coverage. If you are renting a car for a road trip and not a covered loss your comprehensive and collision coverage rolls over to the rental car and you may wish to pass on their insurance package. Discuss it with the Agent to decide what best fits your budget.

We are in an era where all we have to do is ask the computer a question and you are bombarded with answers. Which one do you believe? I personally prefer a real person who has the time to answer all my questions. An Agent should offer more than just insurance, he/she should offer peace of mind. For now, do your research on what you need to be answered about car insurance and make that appointment. It will pay off in the long run.
